Mid-week Musings

I don't really know what is happening to my blog, as if I had nothing to do with it. I feel like I should apologize for it or something. It has become a somewhat mundane travelogue. Let's hope it is just a phase. I've got nothing but disjointed ramblings for you tonight reader.


Tonight I ruined a pair of shoes. In the winter I tire easily of wearing sensible sturdy shoes and some days throw caution and logic to the wind. Today was one of those days, I wore a pair of flats. The temperature was below freezing and the ground was covered in icy snow which turned into slush as the day progressed. This would have been fine had my experience being outside been limited to the back and forth between my car and work. Spent a couple hours tracting with the sisters who were both sporting combat boots and winter coats the size and shape of sleeping bags. Needless to say I came home with cold wet feet and disgustingly wet through flats. Lesson of the day, flats are not the rational thinkers best choice for winter footwear.

If I have any desire to be a conservative spender, I should never again set foot into Anthropologie. Their products are so artsy and unique I just can't stand it sometimes. I thought I would be able to restrain myself and only purchase the one thing I set out to buy in the first place, which was a gift for someone else I might add. As soon as I walked by the sale wall all previous plans went out the window. Its not even their clothes for me, how I adore their home collection. I stood there fiercely admiring every plate, mug, and picture frame in sight. Some things were just too delightful to not take home so I frantically racked my brain to figure out who I could buy these things for. I successfully justified three items as gifts and may have snuck a couple extra things in my basket for my own kitchen. Don't worry though, they were both killer clearance deals so we are talking like $5 each, and I got some cold hard cash in a christmas card today so I put it to good use.

I've been thinking about Julia Child all day. Janine picked up Julia and Julie from redbox last night. It was cute, except for the part where Stanley Tucci drops the f-bomb out of nowhere. (The one piece of language was so unneccessary and completely blew my mind.) The movie made me think a lot about my own schooling/career plans. It was nice to be reminded that there are plenty of people out there, past and present, who struggle with finding their path in life. Also, i've taken to mimicking Julia Child, well the Meryl Streep version of her anyway. I can't even tell you how many times i've said "i'm julia child!" in that weird high pitched shaky voice in the past 24 hours.

Well I should certainly think that is quite enough of my nonsense for one night. Hopefully I'll be back to interesting/creative/thought provoking/response eliciting bloogging soon.
